February is the month of LOVE. We shower our significant others, kids, parents, friends, classmates and coworkers with things to fill their bellies and hearts, but what about us ladies? As we care for those around us, we also need to remember to take measures to keep ourselves looking and feeling good too.
For some women, PMS may be accompanied by certain mild aches and pains… Whether your symptoms are lower back pain, cramping, irritability, bloating or nausea there are essential oils that help with the normal side effects of that “time of the month.”
One of the best essential oils for PMS is Clary Sage. This sweet and musky oil is beneficial for women who experience lighter periods, as well as easing lower back pains. Clary Sage can also help with the emotional strain menstruation can cause.
On the other hand, fresh and floral Geranium helps women with a heavy flow and vaginal dryness. It’s also a great all-around oil for women. Some women experience breast inflammation during menstruation and topically applying a well-diluted blend of this oil can help with that. After a long day on your feet, Geranium can be used to reduce ankle swelling. Like Clary Sage, it’s a stress buster.
Loss of appetite and stomach irritation can be symptoms of PMS, so use herbal Oregano to stimulate appetite and settle an upset stomach.
Appetites aren’t the only things that essential oils can stimulate. During this month of love, treat yourself to a massage blend that not only feels good, but promotes mental harmony as well. Massage blends can be used dry or wet (simply apply before a dip in the tub). Forget dinner and a movie… this blend is a great gift idea, or for use before or during date night.
