Hyssop
The leaves, flowers, and buds of Hyssopus officinalis are steam distilled to produce an essential oil that has an herbal, Camphor-like, spicy, and sweet aroma. A middle note oil, Hyssop blends well with Cajeput, Eucalyptus, and Niaouli.
What’s one herb that the ancient Romans used to fend off the plague? Why, Hyssop of course! And they weren’t the only ones who held this belief, Jewish texts hail Hyssop as being able to help purify the body. Now, you can use it to help against allergens or reduce mild fevers. To minimize allergens, add a few drops to homemade all-purpose household cleaners, carpet cleaners, and room sprays. Spraying it around in a room not only helps purify the area but promote a sense of calm too. For this reason, it’s beneficial to combine with Cajeput, to help keep bacteria and bugs away while you’re at play; simply add a few drops of each oil to a glass spray bottle and fill with water. Applied topically, Hyssop can help alleviate toothaches, bruising, and insect bites.
