Nutmeg
Found in India and the West Indies, the seeds of Myristica fragransare steam distilled to produce an essential oil that has a rich, spicy, sweet, and woody aroma. This middle note oil blends well with Clary Sage, Geranium, Lavender, Rosemary, Petitgrain, Sweet Orange, and other Spice Oils (like Allspiceand Cinnamon).
Did you know that Nutmeg and Mace come from the same plant? These two oils are taken from the seeds and husk of Myristica fragrans, respectively. Although this oil’s aroma evokes the spirit of the holiday season, it can be used all year long for its numerous properties. Nutmeg can dispel the body of unwanted odors and toxins. Add a drop or two to a glass of water and gargle to clean your mouth of toxins that contribute to unpleasant breath. For aromatic awesomeness, combine with Sweet Orange in a diffuser to emit a pleasant aroma, and invigorate the mind and body as well.
Evoke the spirit of the fall, by adding a dash of Nutmeg to your favorite baked goods, like Pumpkin Bread, or hot caffeinated beverage (spice up this Pumpkin Spice Latte recipe by adding a drop of Nutmeg).
