Balanced Heart Chakra with Essential Oils

by FabulousFrannie

In the chaos of day-to-day life, it’s easy to feel off balance. You may remember that essential oils are a fantastic way to help re-align you and your chakras. As a refresher, there are seven chakras, or energy sources, within our bodies that govern our mental, emotional and physical being. One of these is the Heart Chakra, also referred to as the Fourth Chakra.

Located at the center of our chest, the Heart Chakra is essential for personal well-being and, as the name suggests, gives us the ability to establish healthy and loving relationships. When it’s unbalanced we tend to feel disconnected from our true self, and may exhibit selfish or impulsive behavior and be more defensive than usual.

To help align this chakra, I recommend using a diffuser or bath blend for aromatic stimulation of the mind and body. For bath blends, simply add up to 12 drops of your desired essential oils to 2 Tbsp. of unscented bath salts or carrier oil. Here are three essential oils that I recommend for balancing the Heart Chakra.

Bergamot
This floral oil helps promote tranquility by easing the mind of anxious feelings and tension. Bergamot boosts confidence and inner-strength (key components of healthy relationships), while counteracting potential feelings of jealousy or inadequacy.

Cypress
This is an uplifting oil that provides strength and comfort to a discouraged heart. Cypress helps soothe tension and promote relaxation. It can also be used to draw out happiness and contentment, which are important in combatting a lack of empathy that sometimes arises from an unbalanced Heart Chakra.

Ylang Ylang
This aromatically robust oil can be used to align several Chakras, making it perfect to use during times of meditation or prayer. Ylang Ylang is particularly beneficial for balancing the Heart Chakra due to its calming properties that help diffuse anger and tension. This oil benefits sexual libido and can boost confidence as well.
