If you’re looking to learn about different essential oils, then you’re in the right place! Read below to find out more about Juniper Berry essential oil and its many wonders.
Juniper Berry
The berries of Juniperus communis are steam distilled to produce an essential oil whose aroma is crisp, woody, and sweet, with an almost fruity undertone. This middle note oil blends well with Black Pepper, Cedarwood, Clary Sage, Cypress, Elemi, Fir Needle, Lavender, and Rosemary.
Juniper has been used in religious ceremonies throughout time and across cultures to help cleanse the spirit. In Tibet, it’s used as incense to induce a meditative state during Buddhist meditation. Soothing not only to the mind, but the body as well, Juniper Berry can be added to massage blends to help relieve minor pain associated with arthritis or hemorrhoids. If you’re looking to refresh skin, you can try blends like Rejuvenate that use its properties as an astringent to help improve the appearance of skin, by reducing stretch marks, cellulite and imperfections. Juniper Berry can also be used to help purge the body of harmful toxins that build up with its diuretic properties (check out this recipe for a blood detox pack made with Castor Oil). Its woodsy aroma is wonderful to add to homemade cologne or perfume. Place it in a spray bottle with oils like Lavender or Rosemary and water to not only leave behind a delightful aroma, but help eliminate airborne germs as well.
