Pearly Whites with Essential Oils

by FabulousFrannie

Like our favorite redheaded orphan once chimed, “You’re never fully dressed without a smile.” But sometimes the last thing we want to do is expose the world to our not-so-pearly whites or unpleasant breath.

Between caffeinated beverages, fragrant food and sugary treats, our mouths take a beating on a daily basis… but that shouldn’t stop us from showing off our beautiful smiles whenever the urge strikes!

Although reducing consumption of food and beverages that discolor teeth and effect breath is the most obvious method for maintaining a glamor-shot ready smile, it is also slightly unrealistic (after all, who wants to live in a world without coffee or bagels?). For this reason, there are essential oils that you can incorporate into your regimen to help promote brighter smiles and fresher breath.

Clove
As we have discussed before, Clove is powerful in fighting germs and keeping our bodies healthy. Its disinfecting properties help protect our teeth from invaders.

Lemon
An antiseptic, Lemon can help strengthen gums and reduce the appearance of discoloration.

Peppermint
Peppermint contains properties that help combat anaerobic bacteria, which live in the mouth and contribute to bad breath and gum disease.

Tea Tree
This oil is beneficial in fighting bad breath due to the fact that it contains properties that attack germs and microorganisms. Some recent studies have found that Tea Tree may be effective in combatting halitosis and Candida. Tea Tree is an extremely powerful oil, so it is recommended that you add only a drop to an oral rinse.
