Have you ever gone to make a recipe and realized, “Oh no, I’m missing milk! What what do I have that I can use instead?” Much like when you’re making a culinary creation, substitutions can be made when making essential oil blends and recipes.

Before getting started with your substitutions, it’s important to have some information. First and foremost, what is the primary purpose of the oil you need to substitute? Is it aromatic or therapeutic, or maybe a little of both?

Below is a chart of essential oils with a description of their aroma and benefits, along with some oils for which they can be substituted depending on your needs.
