The Moisturizing Effects of Elemi Essential Oil

by FabulousFrannie

Each essential oil has different effects on the body depending on its base. They can help with anything from cramps to hangovers to improving immunity. Each month I will showcase an oil that I think is particularly beneficial at that time of year.

Elemi essential oil is extracted from the gum of the tree by steam distillation. Elemi is mainly used in cosmetics, perfume and soap. It helps to uplift, decrease environmental threats and protect the skin from things that try to hurt it.

This trait is particularly beneficial since dry skin is one of the major pitfalls of winter. All the cold weather and constant hand washing to avoid getting sick dries out your skin. Using Elemi in skin care products can help combat and rejuvenate dry skin, so the only thing that’s flaky at your next holiday party is your cousin Betty.
