Tagetes
Tagetes minuta is steam distilled to produce an essential oil with an aroma that’s wild, fruity-herbaceous, citrusy, and fresh with bitter undertones. Tagetes is a top/middle note oil that blends well with Clary Sage, Frankincense, Geranium, Lavender, Lemon, Orange, Sandalwood, Tea Tree, and Ylang Ylang.
Have you heard of the wonders of Tagetes? Well, if you’ve ever tried Tea Tree then you’re already familiar with many benefits of this lesser known oil. These two oils have a lot in common and can often be swapped for one another. One particularly beneficial application for Tagetes is in the prevention of minor infections, making it beneficial to have in Aromatherapy first aid kits. It can also help relieve spasms and depressed or anxious feelings. To ease emotional discomfort combine with Sandalwood and Ylang Ylang and add to a spray bottle with water for an uplighting, yet grounding aromatic boost. During the summer months, or all year long, ward off and kill pesky insects with a combination of Tagetes and Lemon. Methods of use include homemade candles and bug spray.
