Melissa
Steam distilled from the leaves and flowers of Melissa officinalis (commonly referred to as Lemon Balm), this essential oil has a fresh, lemony and herbaceous aroma. This top/middle note oil blends well with Basil, Bergamot, Blood Orange, Helichrysum italicum, Lavender, Lemon, Lemongrass, Petitgrain, Rose Bulgarian Absolute, and Sweet Orange.
Meet your new best friend, Melissa! This essential oil is a great companion for its soothing properties. If you have difficulty falling and staying asleep, use Melissa aromatically to ease stress and anxiousness which may be preventing you from getting a good night’s rest. This oil aids those with depression and helps put the mind at ease. Pairing Melissa with almost any of the oils mentioned above, like Basil or Sweet Orange, in a diffuser would be ideal in this situation.
Melissa can also be beneficial for oily or acne-prone skin, however it should be used with caution and in high dilution when applied topically (this means less essential oil to carrier than usual). The reason for this extra care is that Melissa contains a high amount of citral, which can cause skin sensitization. Use on skin with care.
