No matter what time of year it is, bumps, bruises and other minor aches and pains can get you feeling down. What can you do to help reduce the appearance and pain associated with life’s little oopsies?
There are several different methods you can use to help, from compresses to elevation, but what about essential oils? Here are a few for different occurrences.
Cypress
Use this essential oil on the onset to help promote blood circulation and reduce the likelihood of blood pooling (bruising). If you don’t have Cypress on hand at the time, it can be applied later to decrease the appearance of already formed bruises. With its ability to help minimize fluid retention, this oil is great for helping relieve joint and muscle pain.
Frankincense
This essential oil is one of skin’s greatest allies. Packed with properties that help protect and heal skin cells, Frankincense can help diminish the appearance of bruising and minor scarring. Its anti-inflammatory properties help promote circulation, easing minor aches and pains. Frankincense is also an antiseptic and disinfectant, which can help protect minor cuts.
Helichrysum bracteiferum
There are two different varieties of Helichrysum, and while both are great, this one is particularly beneficial for skin and your body’s aches and pains. It can help replenish damaged skin cells, minimizing the appearance of scarring. When using for bruising, wait for inflammation to decrease (several hours to a day) to apply to help promote circulation. Helichrysum bracteiferum’s ability to help promote circulation also makes it valuable in reducing minor pain associated with arthritis.
