Ajwain
With origins in India, Trachyspermum copticum is steam distilled to produce a warm and spicy oil. This oil goes by several other names, including Ajowan and Carom. Ajwain is a top/middle note oil that blends well with Parsley, Sage, and Thyme.
Some of the properties of Ajwain include anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antifungal as well as being an insecticide. A few recent studies have found that this oil is extremely powerful as an antioxidant and targets harmful particles, since it contains the chemical thymol. This means that it can be a good addition to your homemade cleaning products and room sprays. Ajwain can also be beneficial during cold and flu season as it can help open up the airways and possibly relieve stuffy noses. If you use Ajwain for this, try adding a drop or two to an inhaler or diffuser. Blending it with Thyme can act as a way to boost immunity while easing breathing.
